Homemade Tamales
Tamales are Mexico's top list of traditonal dish. Just like any other dish in the Mexican culture, tamales are a great dish to be creative and super easy to cook with various meats and dairy products.
Lets take a look at our ingredients for tamales rojos with pork:
- 2 ½-3 pounds pork shoulder, butt or country ribs with bone in
- 1/2 tablesopoon of Salt
- 3 chicken bouillon
- 3 beef bouillon
- 1 whole head of garlic, peeled
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 whole head of garlic, peeled
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 3 tablespoons dry oregano (Mexican oregano if available)
- 4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoon paprika
- 1.2 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon parsley
Chile Colorado Sauce:
- 10 dried guajillo peppers (found in the international aisle of your local supermarket or online)
- 2 ancho chiles or chile negros (spicy)
- 1 white onion, quartered
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 cups of water
- 5 garlic cloves peeled or 5 teaspoon of garlic powder
- salt to taste once sauce has been prepared
